During the events, the Russian government center for research and development, NAMI, showcased two models of the Aurus Komendant and Lada Vesta cars that it is developing and providing with self–driving software.

Experts at the center pointed out that the Aurus Komendant model received advanced sensors installed in a streamlined structure placed on the roof of the vehicle.

The car model is equipped with seven video cameras, two lidar devices, five radars, distance sensors, a navigation unit capable of communicating with satellites, and two Wi-Fi and LTE communication units. These technologies can recognize objects at a distance of up to 200 meters to control the car’s path and ensure safe movement for it on the roads.

The Lada Vesta model also contains satellite communication units, and is equipped with eight video cameras, four lidar devices, and two radars, and these technologies can monitor objects at a distance of up to 100 meters.

For years, Russia has been testing self-driving systems for cars and taxis, and is also conducting tests on electric buses, trams, and metro trains equipped with self-driving systems. The Russian company Yandex uses its advanced robots in goods delivery operations in many cities of the country.
