Amazing Race fans fume as latest series gets a ‘new’ twist everyone hates
Amazing Race season 38 has left fans bitterly disappointed after episode one appeared to reveal the competition only taking place in Europe.
The new series got underway on Thursday night, with host Phil Keoghan inviting former Big Brother contestants, including Taylor Hayle and Jagateshwar ‘Jag’ Bains, to compete on a journey around the world with their loved ones.
Viewers were immediately left underwhelmed when it seemed as though the 13 teams would only be traveling across one continent, with the race kicking off in the Netherlands.
‘They will battle it out in Europe’s most iconic locations,’ Phil announced.
‘Nothing can prepare them for an Amazing Race with more trains, self-driving, and racing on foot than ever before.’
The underwhelming setting comes after season 37 saw 14 teams of two start in Los Angeles before traveling through Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Bulgaria, Italy, Germany, France, and Portugal before returning to the United States and finishing in Miami.
Prior to that, season 36 was a race around the Americas and included travel through Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Barbados, and the Dominican Republic.
Disgruntled viewers were quick to complain on social media over the seemingly restricted series.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one asked: ‘This season of amazing race is only in Europe?’
‘The f*** kind of Amazing Race is this? Limited entirely to Europe and former Big Brother contestants?’ another vented.
Echoing a similar sentiment, a third continued: ‘Ew this season of Amazing Race is only Big Brother people and only in Europe? Boooooooooo.’
‘The new season of The Amazing Race looks trash. Why are they only running around Europe…
‘What happened to flying from LAX to China to Australia to Norway & Brazil…’ added another.
A fifth said: ‘I LOVE the amazing race, but I still don’t know how to feel about this season, another only Europe season after two full seasons of that, with an all BB cast?’
However, it seems as though Amazing Race season 38 will eventually span across two continents as the finale is reportedly set to take place in New York City.
The final leg will see the remaining contestants travel from France to the US.

Episode one of the new season saw the contestants travel from Hoorn to Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
By the end of the installment, Vincenzo ‘Enzo’ Palumbo and his brother Giacomo ‘Jack’ Palumbo became the first two contestants to be eliminated.
Speaking to Parade after their exit, Enzo said: ‘I feel I’ve learned that me and him are both stubborn. We’re too much of the same in that aspect. We’re just stubborn. He wants to do it his way. I want to do my way. And there’s no middle ground, you know what I mean?
‘So, I mean, it is what it is. That’s my brother; we’re cut from the same cloth. But I’m so happy I did it with him, though, man. I could have cried at the end there.’
