An Access Key is generated in dedicated password managers, stored on the device itself and allows for quick and secure login without the verification codes that the user used to receive via SMS. It can be used to log in using a short user-generated password, as well as fingerprint or facial recognition.

To benefit from the new feature, the user must follow the following steps:

– Open the Telegram application and go to “Settings”.

– Select the “Privacy” section and then go to “Access Key”.

– Click on “Create Access Key” and choose “Add Access Key”.

To generate the key, built-in password managers from Google and Apple can be used, as well as other options like 1Password.

The Access Key can also be easily deleted. For example, on iPhones, this requires dragging the created key with your finger to the left and then tapping Delete.

Telegram began expanding authentication methods for using the application after information appeared in the media at the end of last October about the start of imposing restrictions in Russia on sending access codes to the application via SMS text messages. For example, the application also added the ability to link an email to the account to receive access codes to the application account, a feature that was previously available to a limited number of users.
