Aussie’s fury about the unspoken footpath ‘rule’ – and EVERYONE agrees with her: ‘It’s actually insane’

Cassidy McGill has gone on an expletive rant about unspoken footpath etiquette after a group of unsuspecting people walking towards her refused to step aside.

The Love Island Australia star was on a one-hour walk when she noticed almost everyone she crossed paths with didn’t stay to the left or keep to single file.

‘Apparently we need to do a refresh on footpath etiquette because a lot of you f***ers don’t know how to share a footpath and it’s crazy,’ Cassidy said furiously in a video.

‘First up, if you’re walking on your own, you stick to the left, depending on what country, you stick to the right. You know what? I don’t give a f*** what side you stick to, just don’t walk in the middle, otherwise you’ll p*** me off.’

Cassidy called out those who ignore footpath etiquette – including couples, singles, elderly people, families and dog owners.

She took particular issue with couples who are not conscious of those around them.

‘If you’re walking as a couple and you’re walking towards me, you go single f***ing file, okay? You don’t need to keep holding each other’s hands,’ she said.

‘For two seconds, you can go single file because it’s not my responsibility to walk around you just so you two can keep holding hands. I will drop a shoulder, I’ll lose my f***ing s***.’

For those walking as a family with kids, Cassidy said it was the parents’ responsibility to make sure their children are not blocking the entire footpath.

‘It’s the parent’s responsibility to teach the child to get out of the way,’ she said.

‘When they’re young and impressionable,  that’s when you teach them how to share a f***ing footpath. I don’t want to have to f***ing dodge and walk around your kid. You teach your kids to get out of the way, to step to the side.’

Her rant didn’t end there. She called out pet owners for not holding onto their dogs properly – leaving her to ‘hurdle’ over the leash.

‘If you’re walking with a dog, you pull the f***ing lead in. I’m not in the Olympics… I don’t want your dog in and around my legs,’ Cassidy said.

The reality star was shocked to see a huge number of people with ‘no courtesy on how to share a f***ing footpath’.

‘It’s actually insane,’ she said.

‘How are you people raised? Actually I know how you’re f***ing raised because I see how these parents are raising their kids and that’s where they f***ing get it from.

‘Oh my god. I just went for an hour walk – old people, young people, couples, singles… you people are animals.’

Her video has prompted a heated discussion after striking a chord with thousands of people, with more than 870 comments and over 265,000 views in just 24 hours.

‘I brace myself and refuse to move, they ALWAYS expect the other person to move, every one of those types of people. I brace and keep my stride. Don’t want to be hit? Then learn to move,’ one shared.

‘I am also a bracer. My wife and I single file and they still have the audacity to bump into her. NOT TODAY SUNSHINE,’ another ranted.

‘OMG the amount of times I’ve basically had to go off road with my double pram because people walking refuse to move is crazy. Of course I move for others but when it’s a narrow path and I’m about to run into bushes for you. Please give a mama a break,’ one said.

‘I stand in between couples. Sorry I’m not moving. Either split or both move to one direction,’ another suggested.

‘OMG you’ve spoken every single frustration of mine taking a walk. Sometimes, just sometimes, I really wish I was as ignorant and lacked as much courtesy as SO many others because why the heck is it SO exhausting just going for a walk?!’ one added.

Many applauded Cassidy for bringing the major issue to light, with one saying: ‘I feel like this refresh was so needed. STICK TO THE LEFT.’

‘SAY IT LOUDER PLEASE,’ another added.
