HGTV’s Christina Haack reveals how ex Tarek El Moussa intervened amid turmoil with estranged husband Josh Hall

Christina Haack has claimed her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa orchestrated getting her most recent ex-husband Josh Hall off their HGTV show The Flip Off.

Television personality Christina, 42, was due to star alongside Josh, 45, as well as Tarek, 44, and his wife Heather Rae, 38, on the program, but things quickly turned awkward when she split from her partner right in the middle of filming.

In a new interview, she confessed that Tarek played an instrumental role in getting Josh out of the series.

And, because of his help, she was able to resume production without him.

‘Tarek told our attorney and told the network for me that Josh would no longer be a part of the show,’ she explained.

‘They said, “No problem. That’s fine.” They just said, “We need Christina to have a scene where she tells you, Tarek, that Josh is no longer going to be a part of the show.”‘

One week later, they filmed the scene.

‘[The producers] didn’t tell me anything,’ she recalled to People. ‘They just said, “Tarek’s coming over. We want you to tell him that you and Josh broke up.”

The real estate investor split from her third husband Josh during filming for The Flip Off 

‘But for me, [the scene] was never really about Josh. It was more about me and Tarek and everything that’s happened since then.’

Christina and Josh tied the knot in April 2022, but after nearly three years of marriage he filed for divorce in July 2024.

She was previously married to Tarek from 2009 to 2018. They share daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, nine.

After Tarek, Christina was married to Ant Anstead from 2018 to 2021, and the pair share son Hudson, five.

The Flip Off premiered in January and was a smashing success, becoming HGTV’s highest-rated new series since 2022.

The premiere episode of the show saw Christina and Josh’s relationship issues come to a head as they endured a tense car ride together which was on-camera.

‘This is a competition. We gotta pull out all stops. Whatever it takes to win, I’ll do it. Halls rule!’ Josh told her as she sat stiffly by his side in the passenger seat.

In response to her silence, Josh began to berate Christina and accused her of being ‘rude.’

‘Remember, you’re a Hall now. Don’t get confused in this competition about what your last name is,’ he continued.

Christina then explained that she doesn’t ‘over talk,’ which then led to Josh snapping at her.

‘Yeah, the s**t you say and I’m just like, “I wish you’d shut up already.”‘

His savage remark caused Christina to let out a sigh, which in turn prompted him to tell the cameras that his wife was ‘p***ing him off.’

Later, she later tearfully told her ex Tarek on camera that she and Josh had ‘officially split up.’

Christina previously told Entertainment Tonight it was difficult The Flip Off the show due to estranged husband Josh’s insecurity.

‘We only filmed together a few times and it was not fun, to be honest,’ she said in an interview last November.

‘I did not enjoy filming with him. Having split up made this, to be honest, so much easier and so much better in every way.’

‘When someone is insecure by you and doesn’t like to watch you win, that really puts a damper on everything,’ the reality star continued.

Despite parting ways from Josh, Christina has since found love with new man, Christopher Larocca.

The couple went Instagram official in January after ‘months’ of dating.
