Sniper reportedly shoots detainees at US immigration facility – media — RT World News
A shooting at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas on Wednesday has left at least three people injured from possible sniper fire, the agency’s acting Director Todd Lyons has reported. Media sources have claimed the victims were detainees, some of whom were killed.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the suspect was apparently killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
ICE has been the target of significant backlash in the US, particularly from the left, over its enforcement of the government policy of mass deportation of individuals believed to be illegal immigrants.
Critics say President Donald Trump’s administration is denying targeted people due process and otherwise violating human rights.
The political climate in the US has become increasingly charged. Earlier this month, conservative speaker Charlie Kirk was murdered by a sniper in what was broadly perceived as a significant turning point. Trump has accused the “radical left” of fanning tensions.
