Twenty-three-year-old police officer Tyler was working the night shift in 2010 when a call came in about a 13-year-old girl who had gone missing.

He set out on a frantic search for the young teen, who was thankfully found safe soon after.

But Tyler never could have guessed that 15 years on he’d be engaged to that same young woman.

The girl, Roro Nicole, now 28, recently opened up about how she fell in love with the man who assisted in her search following her disappearance as a teen, and their unusual love story has completely captured the globe.

Roro explained in a series of now-viral TikTok videos that she had run away to escape abuse.

‘Once I escaped my parents freaked out and called the cops and told the cops I had ran away and was being a bad child, but that’s no where near what happened,’ she continued.

Many officers began searching for Roro, who said she was ‘hiding’ somewhere ‘safe.’ 

One of those men was Tyler, her now-fiancé. But at the time, they never even met.

‘There was a certain officer who was working that night, assisting with the search. I had never met him, I had no idea he was involved until 15 years later,’ continued Roro.

After she was found, Roro was placed in foster care. And years later, she began working for the sheriff’s office, which is when she met Tyler. 

She said he would often ‘stare’ at her but was too ‘nervous’ to talk to her until one day he finally approached her and they started chatting. 

They soon ‘became friends and started hanging out and talking regularly,’ which is when they discovered the shocking connection they shared from years prior.

‘I ended up opening up to him about when I ran away from home and while I was opening up about it he was asking me about the location and year,’ she explained.

‘I gave him the information and he just pauses and stares at me and he goes, “I was searching for you. I was in on that search.”

‘He was so surprised, the whole situation was shocking to both of us because we had no idea. I thought it was pretty cool.’

The two started dating soon after and got engaged seven months later, in August 2024.

Roro’s videos about their relationship have wracked up millions of views in total, and has sparked a fierce debate. Some viewers joked that it ‘felt illegal,’ while others called it fate.

‘This is wrong on so many levels,’ wrote one user.

‘That definitely feels illegal,’ agreed another.

‘I’m glad you found your hero,’ gushed someone else.

‘Lots of haters here, I don’t think people are understanding the whole thing. It’s not weird,’ insisted another supporter.
